A fantastic second evening in Spalding 6-a-side league saw some slick, attractive football.
Division One got under way at Surfleet on Monday with Punchbowl Tigers looking solid and organised in a 3-0 win over Simple FC. Jamie Stonebridge did the damage with a man-of-the-match performance.
Univeg Team, also looking to register their first points, took on Balotellitubbies – yet to win and yet to register a goal.
Univeg dictated the tempo and injected flair when needed. Aleksej Markovs, from Univeg Team, was man-of-the-match in their 3-0 win.
League leaders Polishborough against EPH was the most one-sided of the night. In an 8-1 win, Thomaz Rabiega got his second man-of-the-match award in as many weeks.
Polishborough will take some stopping.
Brennan’s Sports clinched a tight, encompassing 1-0 win over Baltic United. The pass and move style by both sides was impressive and an enjoyable game to watch. Scott Burrell was man-of-the-match.
Division Two got started with organised Posh Old Boys snatching the points from Mail Carters in a 2-0 victory. Their solid defence taking the plaudits for the shut-out. David Nixon was MoM.
Sarah’s Boys and Luis Suarez Ate My Hamster drew 1-1. Juan Carlos Escobar (Luis Suarez…) getting the man-of-the-match nomination.
The penultimate game saw Class On Grass run out 4-2 winners against Le Saux Solid Crew, in a thrilling encounter. Harry Ledger took the man-of-the-match plaudits.
Old Boy Coaches against Dynamo Kiev was much more one-sided than most predicted, with Old Boy Coaches running out 4-0 winners. Darren Spillet was MoM. Old Boy Coaches used some great positional play and fantastic technique, which wouldn’t look out of place in the top division.
