Amazing work from Audrey (97)

Most people would not be looking to take on extra tasks at the age of 87.

But sprightly Audrey Forman did just that for ten years to benefit fellow residents in sheltered housing in Lyndis Walk and other areas of Holbeach.

Mrs Forman organised events and acted as committee treasurer.

Along with monthly coach trips through the summer to places such as Hunstanton, King’s Lynn and Skegness, there were Christmas parties, weekly bingo sessions and an annual celebration to mark the opening of the community hall in Lyndis Walk.

After stepping down from the role recently Mrs Forman (97) was presented with a bouquet of chrysanthemums, lilies and gerberas as a thank you for her sterling efforts.

She said: “I’ve really enjoyed it. Everyone coming together and getting to know each other is lovely.

“I’d like to thank everyone for the lovely flowers.”

With the disbandment of the original committee, a surplus of funds of £1,537 has been donated to Holbeach Hospital.

It was chosen because several people who had contributed over the years had been cared for in the hospital.

Meanwhile, a collection of change amounting to about £150 will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
