This September, to celebrate Friendship Month, Nene and Welland Oddfellows is on a mission to bring friends back together and encourage new connections after 18 months of isolation and social restrictions.
The Market Deeping-based friendship group will be hosting a festival of friendship with events which include a Friendship Lunch on September 1 at Waggon & Horses Langtoft, a visit to the Exotic Pet Refuge on September 10 and a Cold Pudding Club on September 14 at Oddfellows Hall, Market Deeping, plus many more events throughout the month.
The taster events are designed to make visitors feel especially welcome and show them the benefits of joining a local friendship group first hand.
There are also online open days running throughout September.
Prior to the pandemic, Nene and Welland Oddfellows had only held in-person events for its members. But since the first lockdown, it has held regular Zoom events, which are open to anyone to join in, not just its members.
Nene and Welland Oddfellows is a non-profit and mutual, with 555 plus local members who meet regularly for social and fundraising activities. Annual membership to the Oddfellows also provides financial benefits and welfare support, with a dedicated care helpline and citizens advice team, volunteering opportunities, and a travel club.
