Annabel Hobley, producer of the BBC series Shopgirls and co-author of the book by the same title, will be at Bookmark on Tuesday, September 2.

Shopgirls lets us glimpse the lives of the incredible women behind the counters of Britain’s most famous – and not so famous – stores, with characters such as arsonist suffragette Gladys Evans, jailed for her beliefs, and Chili Bouchier who made the journeys from the small ladies’ department at Harrods to star of the silver screen.

Annabel will be bringing history to life – you will never shop in the same way again.

The event starts at 7.15pm and tickets are £3.50 to include a glass of wine or juice.

Tickets are available from the shop in The Crescent or by calling 01775 769231.
