LETTER: Pothole caused flat tyres

On going home from work on a dark frosty late night at approximately 11.45pm, I decided to take a main road to be safe.
So from Cowbit to Holbeach I went to Moulton Chapel to Saturday Bridge (Fen Road), then left towards Holbeach.
Then I turned left on Hither Old Gate, not using this road normally, as I would have driven along Cranesgate to Hither Old Road, the other end.
I went in a hole in the road, which was frozen over with snow on top. Hitting this hole at about 25-30mph, I carried on but my car was pulling to the left.
Came out for work next day to see the trouble – I had flat two tyres, so I had to borrow a car to get to work.
On removing the wheels it was discovered that both wheels were badly bent and tyres split, so I could not use my car for two days.
Had new tyres and wheels straightened, so all was good.
The next step was to phone Lincolnshire County Council to put a claim in for damage to my car.
They put a claim in to the Finances and Public Protection County Office, Newland, Lincoln, to deal with this matter.
That was on April 1, then on July 22, Legal Services Lincolnshire, say they cannot offer me any compensation for losses on this occasion.
Also they kindly reminded me that I am entitled to take independent legal advice in this matter.
So I pay again for what? To get not a thing.
I think I should get free tax for my car for one year. The road I go on is not fit to travel on.
Hedges and trees have not been cut back for years and along the back roads vehicles have to go on to the roadside when meeting another car, making more holes.
It’s not my fault I cannot see a hole if it is covered with ice and snow.
What is this coming to?
