GALLERY – Knights and Tydd Reserves both hit four in Saturday successes

Pinchbeck United put their disappointing Kingfisher Lighting United Counties League Cup campaign behind them with a 4-2 friendly win over March Town on Saturday.

Goals from Jake Knight (2), Scott Waumsley and Harry Machin fired Pinchbeck to victory over Thurlow Nunn League opposition at Knight Street.

Having failed to win a single game in the curtailed Uhlsport UCL Premier Division season and after losing all five of the Kingfisher Cup clashes, this was a timely boost for Lewis Thorogood’s side as the boss bids to improve the club’s flagging fortunes.

The Knights are back in action again on Saturday when they host a side from AFC Rushden and Diamonds side at Knight Street (noon).

* Tydd Reserves enjoyed a fine 4-2 win at FC Peterborough City in the Peterborough Junior Cup on Saturday. Goals from Ben Gibbons, Kai Scott-Henson, Luke Want and Louie Rees got the job done.

In the same competition, Long Sutton Athletic Reserves lost 6-1 at Wisbech Town Reserves.

* Saturday fixtures (2pm): Peteborough Senior Cup – Crowland Res v Pinchbeck Res; FC P’boro v Moulton; Stamford Bel v Long Sutton; Tydd v Thorpe Wood. Junior Cup – Long Sutton Res v Ramsey. Minor Cup – Cambridge FC v Sutton Bridge; Holbeach Bank v PFP Res; Netherton A v Long Sutton A.
