A wad of cash found in a Spalding street has been reunited with its owner.
The elderly gentleman dropped £180 en route to buying a car road tax disc at the Post Office in Winsover Road on August 7.
Fortunately, someone handed the cash into Spalding Police who launched an appeal to find the owner.
A neighbour of the man spotted The Voice coverage and alerted him that the cash had been found and handed in by an honest person.
Insp Jim Tyner, of Spalding Police, said: “He was extremely grateful as he is on a limited income and the loss of the money caused him financial hardship.”
- We’d love to do a follow-up piece on this feelgood story so if anyone could put us in touch with the man, his neighbour and/or the Good Samaritan we’d be very grateful. 01775 660555 (office hours)
Thursday, August 14: Police want to reunite a man with cash found in a busy Spalding street.
Officers have established that the rightful owner bought a new tax disc (serial number F245808) at the Post Office in Winsover Road on August 7.
The cash was handed in to Spalding Police Station by an honest person.
Community Policing Inspector Jim Tyner said: “If the man can come forward with the tax disc and information regarding the amount of cash he lost, I hope we can reunite him with his money.”
As no crime has been committed, efforts to trace the man’s details through the tax disc information have so far proved fruitless.
