A thousand thanks Sir Tom

The late Capt Sir Tom Moore would have approved of the fundraising efforts at Spalding Rugby Club.
Inspired by the efforts of the 100-year-old, club treasurer Peter Jullien is set for a 100 challenge of his own.
Mr Jullien is marking his 70th birthday and will be completing 100 laps of the ground every day for ten days to raise money and improve facilities.
He is aiming to raise £3,500 towards a hefty bill to put up new showers and changing rooms at the club’s site at Cowbit.
“It will make a huge difference, at the moment we are using modular buildings from the London Olympics and they just weren’t built for rugby teams,” he said.
A club member for more than 20 years, Mr Jullien is also the new ground development project officer for the Drain Bank North site used by the junior and mini-teams while the seniors remain based at Spalding Grammar School.
The club has around 150 young players, 120 vice presidents and at least 50 involved with the seniors. It moved home in 2017 and already has a new club house in place along with pitches at the 22-acre site.
Once COVID-19 restrictions allow, the club will be opening for more fundraisers to help support a grant application to build the changing rooms and showers.
