Holbeach man drove while five times above the legal limit for cannabis

A Holbeach man was found to have more than five times the permitted level of cannabis in his bloodstream after he was stopped by police.

Joshua Cross, 23, of East Elloe Avenue, admitted driving his Suzuki car under the influence of drugs when he appeared before magistrates in Boston.

Prosecuting, Jim Clare said Cross was stopped by police in Double Street, Spalding on March 30 last year because he was not wearing a seat belt.

He said they smelt cannabis and he was given a drugs wipe, which was positive, and a reading showed he had 11 micrograms of cannabis in his bloodstream, the legal limit being two.

Mitigating, Philippa Chatterton said Cross had been’ at that time, an occasional user of cannabis but he had not smoked any that day and the reading reflected what he had smoked the night before.

He was banned from driving for a year and ordered to pay a fine of £120 and court costs and charges totalling £117.
