LETTERS – A better deal for pedestrians

Perhaps David Jones and the Pedals Group would care to campaign for a better deal for Spalding’s pedestrians.

It would help immensely if they could spare some time to educate the many so-called cyclists who use the pavements of this town as a race track, thereby breaking the law and endangering life and limb.

In term time it is not recommended for anyone, particularly the elderly, to be out and about when schools release their cycling pupils onto our streets.

It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or worse.

Any remonstration meets with a barrage of verbal abuse or physical threats. At all costs avoid the passageways between Hall Place and the Crescent!

Good luck to you and your group Mr Jones. We applaud your efforts to safeguard cyclists but please let us all work together (South Holland District Council, schools and residents) to make Spalding a safer place in which to walk and cycle for everyone.
