Alfie Tate has reiterated his desire to take over Pinchbeck United on a permanent basis.
The 20-year-old caretaker boss, who recently became the youngest manager in the history of the Emirates FA Cup, has overseen the Knights’ first three games of the season.
Pinchbeck chairman Gary Coomes recently admitted that he’s “hit a brick wall” in his search for a new manager.
And, while Tate admits that he respects Coomes’ view that he needs to find a new boss, the youngster says he’d relish the chance to take the role on for keeps.
“It’s no secret that I’d like the job,” said the first team coach. “The ball is in the club’s court, really.
“I fully understand that Gary wants a more experience manager, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want the job.
“I know that there’s no real update on a potential new manager. I also know that I have a lack of experience. I respect Gary and the club, so it’s up to them really.”
Tate will again take charge of the Knights as they host Peterborough Northern Star on Wednesday night (7.45pm).
