Crowland Town made the perfect start to life back in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division on Saturday as they romped to a 3-0 victory over Oakham United.
In their first game back in the PDFL’s top tier since their relegation back in 2017, Martin Sandall’s goal gave them a 1-0 lead at the break.
Subs Chris Winstanley and Jake Woodward rounded off the Snowden Field success with goals in the second half as Crowland toasted a successful start to the new campaign.
Also in the top flight, Holbeach United Reserves kicked off their season with a 1-1 draw against Peterborough North End Sports at Carter’s Park.
Joe Millinson’s fabulous free-kick secured a point for the Tigers, who had trailed at half time.
There was, however, a defeat for Long Sutton Athletic on day one. The Magpies went down 1-0 at Stilton United with the evergreen Ali Nyang grabbing the only goal.
In Division One, Moulton Harrox made a five-star start as they raced to a 5-1 victory at Thorpe Wood Rangers.
Josh McGuire (2), Andy Law, Jonny Clay and Jamie Cartlidge got the goals for a strong-looking Moulton side at Woodlands Sports Club.
It was also a great day for newly-formed Pinchbeck United Reserves as they came from behind to beat Kings Cliffe 4-3.
Miguel Abreu, Mario Vaz and sub Lee Jackson (2) netted to give Tim Coomes’ side a thrilling victory.
In the same division, Tydd went down 5-1 at Wittering Premiair despite Chris Yaxley’s strike.
Also beaten were Crowland Town Reserves, who slipped up 1-0 at Oundle Town.
In Division Two, Holbeach United Sports made a super start to the season as they eased past Parkside 3-0.
The prolific James Clark bagged twice in that one, with Luke Scampion rounding off the scoring.
South Holland neighbours Long Sutton Reserves were beaten 5-0 at home by Deeping Reserves, however.
Down in Division Three, Tydd Reserves were handed a 9-2 thumping at home against Wittering Premiair A.
There was better news in Division Four, with Long Sutton A enjoying a big 3-0 win at Netherton A.
That winning theme continued with Sutton Bridge United in Division Five, as they beat Oundle Town Reserves 4-1.
Joseph Sutton’s hat-trick and a Kurt Scott strike fired Bridge to glory.
Also in the basement tier, Daniel Lowe’s goal couldn’t stop Holbeach Bank losing 6-1 at home to Rippingale and Folkingham Reserves.
