Jobs fair is to go online this year

A Virtual Jobs Fair is to be put on by South Holland District Council.

Following cancellation of the South Holland Jobs Fair in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will take place on the council’s Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages on Friday (August 21) from 11am till 2pm .

Job vacancies and current opportunities will be posted using the common hashtag #OpportunitySH.

Coun Tracey Carter, the district council’s portfolio holder for governance and customer said: “It’s great to see the ouncil and DWP working together to create this great new innovative way of helping share South Holland’s opportunities with our residents.

“As a council, we’re constantly looking for ways to improve, adapt and change and this Virtual Jobs Fair is another example of that.

“Our economic development team and communications team are hard at work behind the scenes getting everything ready for Friday August 21

“I invite everyone to log on and take a look, like and share with your friends to get the word out in our communities!”

Economic development and inward investment manager, Nigel Burch said: “It was a shame to have to cancel the South Holland Jobs Fair back in April, as it is always a fantastic event that is well supported by local businesses and provides invaluable opportunities to our residents.

“However, I’m really pleased that we have managed to find this new solution to make people aware of the wide variety of roles available in numerous sectors across the District, and hope it will provide a valuable resource at this difficult time. I would encourage as many businesses and residents as possible to get involved, share their own posts and just have a look at what’s on offer.”
