Unusual goodbye for Ayscoughfee’s leavers

“It’s not like normal, but it’s good and we’re getting Domino’s Pizza on Friday” – the final days of a primary education summed up by a Year 6 pupil at Spalding’s Ayscoughfee Hall School.

Attention has been focused on giving the leavers a memorable experience.

Unable to perform their usual end of term production, the children and their teacher Theresa Wright have been working on alternative ways of marking the occasion.

They produced a Leavers’ Assembly which was Zoomed to parents, teachers and friends on the final day of term and instead of the usual feast laid on by the PTFA, a variety of pizzas were ordered from Domino’s. There was also a surprise visit by Laddies’ ice cream van.

Staff have all contributed to a Leavers’ Poem and the children were still able to sign shirts and leaver’s books.

The normal prizegiving was cancelled, but the hall was decorated with balloons and bunting so that the Year 6 children could gather there and receive a book chosen by themselves with a plate inscribed in order to remember their time at the school.

All children received a special award for all the kindness they have shown to others during this difficult time.
