NHS worker returns from 12 hour shift on COVID ward to find front door vandalised

A woman who went to work on the front line of COVID-19 was left upset after she returned from a 12-hour shift on Saturday to find her front door vandalised.

Debbie Poli had been working the overnight shift as the Personal Protection Officer (PPE) on the COVID ward at King’s Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

She returned at 2pm on Saturday to her home in Fishpond Lane, Holbeach, to find the outside of the door damaged and feared walking into an intruder.

Thankfully it doesn’t look as if the perpetrator ventured indoors.

“Seeing the door like that just made me panic,” she said. “I though someone had been in my house.

“I was incredibly scared just entering my own home at the end of a shift.

“Thankfully they hadn’t been inside.”

While it was only damage, it’s still left Debbie £250 out of pocket.

A neighbour had to keep an eye on her property as she completed her shift on Sunday as it couldn’t be repaired until Monday.

“It’s just mindless vandalism.

“I have no idea why they would target someone like me.”
