Masks presented amid NHS thanks

Face masks are being created and delivered to NHS workers and carers thanks to kind-hearted local businesses.

For the past few Thursdays, organised convoys have been visiting local hospitals for the 8pm clap for the NHS.

Kel Hodds and son Scott.

And at the last one in King’s Lynn, landscaper Barry Disdel presented 105 masks he’d paid for to be made by Kel Hodds.

Other local businesses have given him £200 to provide masks for a planned convoy to Peterborough City Hospital this evening (Thursday, May 21), again made by Kal.

And he’s also funding for masks to be made for the Atlas Care where partner Sam Hall and step-daughters Paige and Chelsea Ingle also work.

Barry, whose daughter Samantha Disdel works on the COVID-19 frontline at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital, got involved with the convoys partly organised by Sam Crane of Holbeach Tyres.

“It’s just a way to say thank you to all those working in the hospital,” he said. “It’s not a job that I could ever do and I take my hat off to them.

“The nurses’ reactions to the convoy and the delivery of the masks was amazing.

“I had a personal thank you from the nurses at King’s Lynn. They said they were really touched by the convoy and it brought a tear to a few of their eyes.”
