Kindness Team will disband in June

The Spalding COVID Kindness Team will disband at the end of next month.

The committee behind the team has decided to close it on June 28.

On a post on their Facebook page, founder Keira Williamson said: “This decision has not been an easy one to make.

“We are not by any means out of the COVID woods yet, but we are very happy to know that our local council have (finally) put some secure infrastructure in place so every member of our community will be looked after from this date and we feel safe in this knowledge.

“When we wrap up our services, we will have been in operation for 16 weeks.

“It’s been the biggest honour supporting you all and sprinkling some kindness over our towns and villages.

“When lockdown was announced, it was very easy to want to hide away and cope individually, but this is not what happens during a crisis.

“Without the committee, their hard work, love, support and kindness, this organisation simply wouldn’t have existed.

“To each and every one of our volunteers, you are all amazing and have blown us away with your dedication, love and support if the team.

“Please don’t think this is completely the end. We have six weeks left and a few kind (and safe) tricks up our sleeves… So keep a lookout.”
