Serving up a treat for hospital

A Spalding restaurant and takeaway that’s had to close for a few weeks for the first time in 30 years did a special cook-off and gave the food to hospital staff.

The Crystal Inn on Churchgate delivered around 60 meals to the Johnson Hospital on Monday.

The Chinese restaurant is run by Andrew Law and Man Yi. They and Andrew’s children Jet and Jada Law helped deliver the food to the hospital.

Andrew said: “We decided to do something for the NHS nurses as we know how much pressure they are all under.

“They were all so very grateful with one saying all she had eaten was a cereal bar.

“This a small gesture given to people who sacrifice so much to look after us.”

Andrew says the Crystal Inn will return. “We are closed at the moment but hope to reopen at the end of the month,” he said. “Although we will still only be doing takeaways and deliveries it still contributes to people being on the streets and with the virus being at its peak we felt it prudent to temporarily close for the first time in 30 years.”
