A family have been left ‘devastated’ after a fire destroyed their home in Gedney Hill in the early hours of the morning.
In under an hour this morning a Just Giving page has raised over £600 to help fund items like clothes for the mother and four boys aged eight, 10, 13 and 19 following the blaze on West Drove North.
It’s understood that all were taken to hospital but have since been released.
The fire occurred at around 2am this morning (Wednesday, April 1).
District and parish councillor Paul Redgate told The Voice: “It couldn’t have happened to this family at a worse time really.
“Basically, at 2am there was a massive fire that’s virtually destroyed the house. The shell of it is intact but it’s just a horrible mess inside.
“The family have four boys and they’ve been left with absolutely nothing.
“They’ve been discharged from hospital and are all ok, which is the main thing, but they’ve been left with nothing.
“We’d love to hear from anybody who might have a caravan they’re not using at the moment which could house the family at least for a while.
“The lady also had a lot of animals so we’re trying to get foster homes for them.
“All kinds of offers of help and kindness are welcome.”
A post on Gedney Parish Council’s Facebook page states: “Overnight there has been a fire at a residence on West Drove North. This has been devastating to the family.
“At the moment we are trying to ascertain the immediate needs and as a community we are calling on you to support them. This couldn’t come at a worse time given the isolation issue.
“I am asking for clothes for 4 boys ages 8 through to 19. This includes everything. Please make sure they are cleaned and can i ask these are dropped off at the Parish Council Chairman’s house (Millstone, Mill Lane).
“Also there are a large number of animals which will need temporary accommodation, it would be good to keep it in village.
“Three cats missing. Photos to be provided later.
“Two dogs for foster x Collie, Collie Lab – yard dogs (need to be secured as outdoor dogs).
“Also need someone to help and board up the property to make it secure.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were called at around 2am this morning to the fire.
Crews from Holbeach, Spalding and Crowland attended.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said: ” Crews used two thermal imaging cameras, two hose reels, one main jet, small tools and a total of six breathing apparatus to extinguish.”
