Supporting isolated villagers

A host of Street Ambassadors have been helping the vulnerable in rural villages.

Coun Andrew Woolf helped organise volunteers in his district council ward after seeing so many offers of help online.

A fantastic 76 people were on hand to deliver essential items and help out in Moulton, Moulton Chapel, Moulton Seas End, Weston, Weston Hills and Cowbit.

Coun Woolf said: “There are so many kind hearted people.

“I saw on social media so many people looking to run errands and creating the Street Ambassadors was about getting them to work together.

“I put something on Facebook and the response was fantastic.

“I think we’ve done something like 40 different rounds throughout the villages and we’ve been taking the utmost precautions.

“I think the thing we’ve done more than anything is to pick up prescriptions.

“I’ve also been able to push a leaflet providing important information for people through every door in my ward.

“All the volunteers are looking out for each other and the local businesses have been fantastic.

“The local shops have really engaged with us and I think the thing that’s been requested most is prescriptions so Moulton Medical Centre has been fantastic.

“Thank you to everyone who has been involved, especially the volunteers, without whom none of this would be possible.”
