Is your councillor worthy of an award?

If you think your local councillor is worthy of a national award, here’s your chance to make it happen.

Nominations are open for the annual national Councillor Achievement Awards, organised by the Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) and now in its ninth year.

No councillor from South Holland has ever won a Councillor Achievement Award – will this be the year that changes?
South Holland District Council is made up of 37 district councillors. If any have caught your eye while out and about or worked tirelessly for your cause, they are eligible for nomination.

The awards categories are varied, covering the likes of Community Champion, Leader of the Year, Finance and Transformation Award, Health and Care Award, Place-shaping and Environment Award, Technology and Digital Award and Young Councillor of the Year.

Jonathan Carr-West, Chief Executive of LGiU, said: “So much of what impacts our everyday lives comes from the leadership and dedication of our locally elected leaders.

“Their work so often goes unrecognised and that is why we are calling on all members of the public to come together to nominate those making a real difference in their communities.

“We look forward to receiving a record number of nominations.”

To nominate a councillor, visit www.lgiu.org.uk before Friday, September 14. The ceremony is in November.
