A Spalding church has undergone a £600,000 refurbishment in the hope it will attract new people.

Vision21 was launched in September 2012 by members of Broad Street Methodist Church to enhance the flexibility of the building.

The £601,750 cost has been met through reserves, donations, grants and match funding. Members organised quizzes, concerts, garden parties and sales to raise funds. Two booklets about the church have also been published.

These collective efforts have raise more than £40,000.

The church was reopened and rededicated over the weekend of October 31 and November 1.

A church spokesman said: “It is our desire to strengthen our own fellowship and by becoming a ‘community hub’ we hope to open our place of worship to all.”
