A charity that’s setting up a new community cafe in Surfleet needs you as it looks to land funding towards its creation.
Tonic 44 is due to open in September as a community run cafe that’s currently being created in a former art gallery in Station Road.
The charity Tonic Health wants to use it to help tackle isolation and loneliness as well as promote a healthier lifestyle.
Much needed changing facilities for Spalding Hockey Club who play on the adjacent Glen Park are also to be included in the building.
The project is one of five in the East Midlands shortlisted for a Jewson’s Building Better Communities Award and a share of a £250,000 prize pot.
There were over 2,400 entries for the awards nationally with just 96 carried through to the final shortlist.
People can vote to show their support online until June 20 with the final winners announced on July 3 at an event in Coventry after each project is also discussed by a judging panel.
Michael Morris, chair of Trustees for Tonic Health, said: “We’re delighted to have made it this far and we’re now asking the people of South Holland to vote for the project.”
