A new digital studio offering people the chance to try out state of the art technologies is to open in Spalding town centre.
Learning Curve is a collaboration between Chain Bridge Forge Museum’s innovation centre and Ark ICT Solutions and will offer a range of digital experiences including virtual reality.
At Boston College Spalding Campus in Red Lion Street, professional artists and teachers are on board to deliver a range of experiences through school activities, clubs, birthday events and commissions.
Learning Curve will officially open during the schools’ half-term holiday on February 18, 19 and 20.
Morning sessions will focus on movie making, enabling participants to use the very latest technology to create their own show.
In the afternoons, participants will look at how stop-motion animation works to create a short film.
Both sessions will be led by a fully qualified teacher and an experienced technician from Ark ICT Solutions.
They are aimed at Key Stage Two children, aged 7-11, and all participants will be given an electronic copy of their creations to keep.
Chain Bridge Forge’s Geoff Taylor said: “We are looking forward to launching our new digital studio in the heart of the town centre.
“Following the half term sessions, the partnership between Chain Bridge Forge and Ark will continue to develop new content, which we hope will attract more people to Learning Curve.
“By moving Chain Bridge Forge’s innovation centre to Boston College’s Spalding Campus, more people will be able to come and find out about these new technologies and what we have to offer.”
Morning sessions run from 8.30am to 12pm, afternoons from 1pm to 4.30pm and the total cost for all three sessions is £50. A discounted rate of £75 to attend all three sessions is available.
Throughout the three days, volunteers from Chain Bridge Forge will also be on hand to introduce youngsters to a selection of 3D printers, 3D scanners, 3D pens and virtual reality experiences. To book a place call 01775 720252.
