PDFL round-up: Barnes bags late leveller to deny Harrox in derby draw

A late equaliser from youngster William Barnes earned Holbeach United Reserves a battling 1-1 draw with Moulton Harrox on Saturday.

ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division leaders Harrox had led for a long period at Carter’s Park thanks to another Joe Townsend goal.

But Barnes jumped off the bench to level with around ten minutes to go, as Holbeach’s second string became only the fifth side to take points from Harrox this season.

Moulton, however, are still nine points clear at the top ahead of their PFA Senior Cup semi-final against Stamford Lions at Broad Lane this Saturday (1.30pm).

Also in the top flight, Sutton Bridge United suffered a 5-4 defeat at Oakham United.

It looked like being a long day for Bridge when they fell 4-0 down at half-time, but goals from Joseph Sutton (2), Kurt Scott and Matt Eaton got them back in the game.

In Division One, Crowland Town picked up a 1-1 draw at Kings Cliffe thanks to Joseph Fletcher’s goal, while Spalding Town went down 2-1 at Eye United despite Jordan Clow’s strike.

There was a derby in Division Two, with Whaplode Drove beating Spalding Athletic 3-1.

Josh Ling, Matt Rostron and Jordan Latus netted for Drove to send them tenth in the table.

There was also an all South Holland affair in Division Three, with Long Sutton Reserves smashing Holbeach Bank 7-0.

Marcus Gilbertson (2), Mark Garner, Scott Pemberton, Matt Rose and two own goals got the job done.

In Division Four, Holbeach United Sports drew 2-2 with Hampton as Scott Powley and Luke Williamson netted.

Tydd Reserves went one better and picked up a fine 4-1 success over Kings Cliffe Reserves.

Tim Lowe (2), Ryan Alexander and James Woods were the scorers.
