Woman’s house damaged after Winsover Road RTC

Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle who crashed into a Spalding home yesterday (January 20) amid an accident which it has been claimed was broadcast live on Facebook.

The incident occurred just after 8.30am on Winsover Road and involved a blue BMW.

Botosz Tatar took this picture of the scene.

Police say it was reported the car was in collision with the house and went on to damage two parked vehicles.

The vehicle destroyed a wall belonging to Karen Howard with the debris also putting her front window through.

Karen, who has lived in the property for 19 years, said: “I was walking back from the kitchen and I just heard a loud bang, bang, bang and then glass shattering.

“I walked in the front room and there was glass everywhere.

“I looked out the window and my entire wall was lying in my garden.

“It was scary. If I’d have been sat in my chair that’s right in front of the window I would have been clonked on the head.

“I dread to think what might’ve happened if I didn’t have the wall at the front

“To the right of my house was a silver Astra van and to the right the BMW which had the driver’s side door open and you could see someone running away in the direction of Spalding.

“Another guy who had been in the car was leaning against another car.

“I was in shock but a very nice policeman came and gave me lot of support and advice.”

Karen’s front room was left covered in glass following the incident.

Bartosz Tatar and wife Katarzyna Sapeta-Tatar livesnearby and as qualified first aiders they were both quickly on the scene.

Bartosz, whose business Shine Obsessed Auto Dealing narrowly missed being hit, said: “We live a few meters further towards town centre.

“We were just getting up on Sunday morning, when heard big ‘bang’. Wife peaked through the window and shouted to me there was a car accident, so I told her to call ambulance and we rushed there to help.

“We went to assist but when I got there the driver has escaped. We’d seen him running when we first looked through window.

“Another kind lady has provided safety to the passenger, so I just looked at the car if there is a threat of fire or something.

“It was when I noticed engine was still running so I removed the keys from the ignition.”

A video that’s been claimed to be a Facebook Live Broadcast from the car has been shared hundreds of times on social media.

The video, shot by someone inside a car, appears to show it hitting another vehicle before the footage ends.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said: “At 8.33am on Sunday, January 20 we received a report of a single vehicle RTC. The car was a blue BMW.

“It was reported the car was in collision with a house on Winsover Road in Spalding and had caused damage to two other vehicles.

“The driver fled the scene. We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at this time or anyone who has any information to call us on 101, quoting incident number 84 of January 20.”
