The Winter Wonderland event due to be held in Spalding tomorrow (Saturday) has been cancelled.
A spokesman for the Spalding Flower Parade committee, which had organised the event, said: “Unfortunately, after reviewing the weather forecast for tomorrow and the predicted high winds and rain, and consulting with our partners in the Spalding Safety Advisory Group, the unfortunate decision has been made to cancel our Winter Wonderland. We know you will all be very disappointed as we are, but public safety has always got to be the first consideration and a priority,
“Thank you to everyone who’s been involved with the months of planning that goes into putting these events on and for all your continued support that you give to the Spalding Flower Parade, we couldn’t make this happen without you.”
The South Holland District Council Communities Team has also cancelled its event tomorrow.
A statement from the team says: “Unfortunately due to Storm Darragh and the weather warnings in place for this weekend we have had to cancel the activities due to be taking place on Spalding market tomorrow. The safety of the public and our entertainers is paramount.
“You can still catch some free activities next Saturday, December 14 (weather permitting) – face painting, circus workshop, stiltwalker and listen and learn about Dadswells Organerium.”
