Trial date set for 16-year-old accused of attempted murder

A trial date has been set for a 16-year-old boy who denies the attempted murder of another teenager in Holbeach.

The youth, who can not be named because of his age, today (Monday) appeared before Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight at Lincoln Crown Court.

Officers were called to Spalding Road in Holbeach at about 1.50am on Sunday, July 28.

They found a 16-year-old boy who also can not be named. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, Lincolnshire Police said.

The arrested teenager was represented by defence barrister Karen Walton and the Crown Prosecution Service were represented by Stuart Lody.

His trial is listed to begin at Lincoln Crown Court on January 13 next year. It is expected to last two weeks.

Judge Sjolin Knight remanded the teenager back into the secure care of the local authority.

A further pre-trial hearing will take place at Lincoln Crown Court on January 6.

Lincolnshire Police have previously asked the public not to speculate on the circumstances of the incident while they continue their investigation.

The force also appealed for witnesses and anybody in the area at the time who may have seen the incident to contact them.
