WIN an Apple iPad mini by designing smokefree sign for play areas and schools

South Holland District Council wants children to design the no smoking voluntary code signs that will go up in play areas and in front of schools and nurseries.

The council is running a competition in conjunction with The Voice and and a winner from each of three age categories will win an Apple iPad mini.

Published with this article is an example of a sign used by Coventry City Council. Entrants might like to use it as inspiration or come up with something completely different.

Here’s all the details on how to enter:

  • The competition has three age categories – pre-school, primary school and secondary school
  • Entrants can choose to design a sign to be displayed at a play area, school or nursery
  • Signs should contain the wording ‘Please don’t smoke near our play area/nursery/school’ (depending on which place the sign is intended for)
  • Entrants must include their name, age, school and contact details
  • Entries should be sent to: Smokefree Code competition, Environmental Health dept, South Holland District Council, Priory Road, Spalding PE11 2XE
  • Closing date is Thursday, November 19. Winners will be notified in early December.
