Whaplode shop and filling station to shut for a year

The Co-op shop and petrol station in Whaplode is to be demolished and rebuilt.

The whole site is being redeveloped in a £1.6m investment, which will take around a year.

The Whaplode Food Store and Filling Station will close at 9pm this Saturday (April 28).

Lincolnshire Co-op said the site will repoen in 2019 with “extra facilities” including a Costa Coffee machine.

As part of the works, the existing traffic island on High Road will be moved.

Shoppers who rely on the store as their local village shop are able to get free bus travel to the Holbeach branch.

Using the Interconnect 505 bus service from Middle Road, Whaplode, to Co-op at Fleet Street, Holbeach, those spending more than £2.90 (full fare) can have their fare reimbursed.
