SHout out for a great weekend

More than 100 people took advantage of last Sunday’s glorious weather to enjoy a special event at Willow Tree Fen Nature Reserve.

The SHout and About Quest’s Walk on the Wild Side saw a range of activities from nature watching to cooking activities from the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.

SHout and About is a 12-week series of activities aimed at encouraging people to try different free, fun activities for a healthy lifestyle.

The initiative is jointly funded by South Holland District Council and Leisure in the Community, with sponsorship from 1 Life and Manor Fresh.

“This has been a wonderful day and it’s great that so many people came out to support this event,” said Coun Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for community and facilities at South Holland Council.

“Spending time outdoors is great for your physical fitness, but it also a natural stressbuster, so we are very fortunate that our district has so much beautiful countryside that residents can enjoy for free, right on their doorstep,” he added.

There are prizes on offer for those taking part in the current programme and you can sign-up to take part at: www.sholland.gov.uk/shoutandabout
