Wellbeing Wombles on duty

While the Wombles of Spalding Common continues to grow in support and numbers, a special offshoot has been created to help people with mental health issues.

The first Wellbeing Womble was held at the weekend and it’s hoped to make it a fortnightly event in the Spalding area.

Organised by Vanessa Browning from Community Mind Matters and Mark Le Sage, of The Rightside Trust, a small group went out armed with pickers and hoops.

“There are plenty of people who would love to help the Wombles but might feel uncomfortable in such a large group,” said Vanessa.

“We are not here to judge and if people want to join us for smaller litter-picks they are very welcome.”
The Wombles co-founder Simon Law provided all the equipment for the Wellbeing members.

For further information contact Vanessa on 07376 157004.

The Wombles has 2,800 members on its Facebook page and they have collected thousands of bags of rubbish since the beginning of the year.
