Well known Spalding firm to close with loss of eight jobs

A Spalding firm that’s been in business for 55 years has closed with the loss of eight jobs.

Welland Print went into voluntary insolvency on Wednesday (June 25).

It first opened in 1970 as Geest Print and later rebranded to Welland Print after being bought out by Mike Trebbick in 2001.

After his retirement , Jake Walton took over as managing director in 2021 and has continued trading until last week.

It means Abbey Print as the only commercial printing company remaining in Spalding.

Jake said: “I am incredibly grateful for the loyalty and support our customers have shown, the dedication of the staff and the many relationships we’ve built over the years.

“Unfortunately, the economic conditions are not in favour of small businesses and those challenges have made it too difficult to continue operations.”
