Week’s respite in Sutton Bridge roadworks

Anyone planning a trip over Crosskeys Bridge has a clear run for the new few days as a lack of materials has halted roadworks.

Crosskeys Bridge at Sutton Bridge was due to be operating on a one-lane system for most of October, but both lanes are currently open and will remain so until work resumes on Tuesday (October 15)

Richard Waters, principal engineer of structures at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We’re making good progress with the bridge repairs, and have completed the resurfacing of the westbound carriageway.

“Unfortunately, our supplier is currently unable to provide sufficient material to resurface the eastbound carriageway, so we have taken the decision to temporarily re-open the A17 to two-way traffic in the meantime.

“We expect to start the next stage of resurfacing on Tuesday 15 October. However, we do allow time for such unforeseen circumstances when planning works, so we still expect to have the repairs completed by October 25.”
