Flower festivals are a firm fixture of the first fortnight of May. Here are some of the events happening in South Holland.
Holbeach Flower Festival at All Saints’ Church has five days of floral fun with Musicals theme. Look out for Audrey II!
Events include a school concert at 6pm on Friday, May 4, Teddy Bears from the Tower at 11am on Saturday (May 5) and Have a Go at Bell Ringing at 2pm.
On Sunday, May 6, the dog show starts at 1pm and there’s songs of praise at 4pm.
Monday, May 7, is the family fun day with a bouncy castle, a dance display, Soprano Helen’s songs from the musicals at 1pm and the Holbeach Town Band at 2pm.
There’s live music at the St Mary’s Flower Festival, Pinchbeck, with professional trumpeter John Barker playing the church on Saturday, May 5 at 7pm. Tickets are £10 from www.southhollandcentre.co.uk
Over the weekend the flower festival, which runs until Monday, May 7, will also have an art exhibition and children’s activities.
There will be a Services theme at The Anglia Motel charity flower festival at Fleet.
The festival, which runs from May 4 to May 7, will celebrate the Army, Navy and RAF, with special military themed floral arrangements.
The festival is raising money to send D-Day veterans to Normandy next year for the 75th anniversary of the landing.
The theme of the Moulton Chapel Methodist Church flower festival is Let’s Celebrate. The festival starts today (Thursday) and runs until Monday, 10am-5pm (noon-5pm on Sunday).
At All Saints’ Church, Moulton, the flower festival Fantasia of Flowers theme is A Time To Remember.
The church will be open 10am-6pm to view the displays until Monday.
Stalls, plants, china and refeshments will be available.
At Gosberton Methodist Church, the flower festival theme is The Church Year.
The festival begins today and runs until Monday, May 7, 10am-5pm each day.
On Sunday, May 6, there will be Songs of Praise at 6pm.
At St Paul’s Church, Fulney, the Hymns and Psalms festival runs from Friday, May 4, through to Tuesday, May 8.
At Sutton St James, the Parish Church of St James The Greater is running an art exhibition in the church from Saturday, May 5, to Monday, May 7.
St Bartholomew’s Church, West Pinchbeck, is running A Festival of Flowers 10am-5pm until Monday, May 7.
There will be refreshments, produce stalls, bedding plants, bric a brac and more.
There’s a musicals theme at St Laurence Church in Surfleet, which is open 10am-5pm until Monday.
The cafe is open until 4pm each day and serves cakes, coffee, tea, pastries and more.
Moulton Chapel is holding its fourth annual Scarecrow Festival this weekend. Anyone can enter their scarecrow and three cash prizes are on offer (07793 782617 for details).
At St Mary’s Church, Long Sutton, the theme for this year’s flower festival – the church’s 55th flower festival overall – is Realms of Fantasy, so expect the unexpected.
The festival began on Wednesday and runs until Monday, May 7. Collections will be made for the church.
