Water taxi back making waves

Around 200 people welcomed the Spalding Water Taxi back to the town’s waterways last Saturday.

After missing out last year due to the low water levels because of burst banks, the unique attraction returned to operating at the weekend.
It was given a grand send off by a Deputy Lieutenant of Lincolnshire Annabelle Ward, one of the King’s representatives in the county, and South Holland and the Deepings MP Sir John Hayes.
“It all went brilliantly,” said operator Anthony Grunwell.
“The weather was great and we had lots of people come on board and enjoy their first trips of the summer, nearly 200 on the first day.
“All of the sponsors including Broadgate Homes and South Holland District Council came out and it was lovely to meet the deputy lieutenant.”
The Spalding Water Taxi runs hourly between Spalding town centre and Springfields from 11am to 5pm on Saturdays and two hourly on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday from 11am at the town centre and 12pm at Springfields.
A single journey is £4 a family ticket £12 and children under three free.
There are also options to hire out boats. For more information visit www.spaldingwatertaxi.co.uk
