Wanted man climbed on roof and threw bricks at police in four hour stand off

A wanted man climbed on a roof and threw bricks at police officers during a stand off yesterday.

Several roads around Gosberton Risegate were closed by Lincolnshire Police after they attempted to arrest the 19-year-old around 3.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, April 12).

He was wanted in connection with an alleged assault that took place on April 9.

Nearby roads were closed.

However when officers tried to arrest him he fled on to the roof of the property.

Lincolnshire Police say he then threatened to harm the officers and threw bricks at them.

He finally came down at 7.30pm.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said: “Officers attended an address in Gosberton Risegate, Spalding, just before 3.30pm on April 12 to carry out an arrest in connection with an alleged assault on April 9.

“The suspect gained access to the roof of the property and threw bricks at officers on the scene and made threats of harm.

“Roads in the nearby area were closed while we dealt with the incident.

“The 19-year-old man came down to the ground safely and was arrested on suspicion of assault just after 7.30pm and remains in police custody. The roads are now fully reopened.”
