Volunteers clean up Surfleet litter

Volunteers braved cold winds and wintry showers to assist at the annual litter pick in Surfleet.
Between them they collected six full bags of rubbish from the verges and hedgerows of the village, mostly food wrappers and cans thrown from passing vehicles.
Parish councillor Judy Chapman said: “We are grateful to the volunteers for turning out on such an unpleasant morning, but are disappointed that the turnout was so low.
“With more helpers we would have been able to clear more areas.
“However, we would also like to thank those other public-minded residents who keep the village tidy throughout the whole year.”
