The committee behind a well used village hall are looking to raise £20,000 by the end of next month to fix its roof.
West Pinchbeck Village Hall was created in the former school on Six House Bank built in the 1840s.
While it underwent a renovation in 1992, the committee responsible for the hall believe some of the roofwork still dates back to the original building.
Recent issues have meant scaffolding has had to be put up around the building.
Now the West Pinchbeck Village Hall Committee has launched a ‘Raise the Roof’ campaign to help it fund, buy and install 4,000 tiles.
A grant for £5,000 has been awarded toward the £28,000 but the committee is appealing to the community to help it raise £20,000.
Lynne Andrew and her husband Paul have been on the committee for nearly 40 years and she says the money needs to be raised by the end of September so the committee can secure the grant.
“Our hall is in use all the time,” she said. “We’ve got lots of local groups that use it and even at the weekends there is lots of birthday parties and wedding receptions, all kinds of celebrations.
“There’s all sorts going on down there.
“We face a huge expense that the committee just doesn’t have the funds to cover.
“That’s why we’ve reached out to the community.”
The Raise the Roof appeal is ‘a community driven campaign’ aiming to create ‘a lasting legacy for future generations’.
A crowdfunding campaign has been launched at www.spacehive.com/raise-the-roof-tile-by-tile-appeal
There’s also the opportunity to sponsor a tile.
Those who do will get their name on a ‘Wall of Thanks’.
There’s a sliding scale for donations with Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum offering more incentives for larger donations.
