Village parade set for 48th event

The Moulton Chapel Tuliptime Parade is returning for its 48th year on Sunday, May 4.

From 1pm the village will be alive with colour for the usual festivities centred around the community centre field.
“We see this occasion as an excellent opportunity to celebrate everything local to us as well as attracting new people to our village,” said Lisa Sexton, the organising committee’s chair. “People travel from far and wide to enjoy the celebrations and we hope to continue to provide this for the village for many years to come.
“The parade has expanded to include a widening variety of craft stalls that support local small independent businesses, a wide range of food offerings, activities and games for people to play, as well as music and entertainment.
“We always try to plan an event that provides something for everyone to enjoy and allows us to demonstrate how wonderful a community event can be.”
As in previous years, the parade will continue to take in Woodgate Road, Roman Road and Cekhira Avenue.
It will be led in 2025 by Jonathan Kelly dressed as Dr Who.
There will also be the annual scarecrow festival which will be in St James’ churchyard.
There will also be poetry reading at this year’s event as a tribute to the village’s late resident Benjamin Zephaniah.
The group are on the lookout for volunteers who might be able to help. For more information visit [email protected]
