Veterans’ annual parade in Donington to commemorate Battle of Arnhem

The 1st Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers veterans will parade in Donington on Sunday (Sept 25) to mark the 72nd anniversary of The Battle of Arnhem.

Accompanied by a piper, they will set off from Market Place at 10am and head to St Mary and the Holy Rood Church for a 10.30am service.
This will include the presentation of the colours, the names of the fallen being read and the laying of wreaths followed by the bugling of The Last Post.

The service will then move outside where the men will pay their respects at the memorial unveiled for the 70th anniversary, beneath the Arnhem oak tree brought back from the battlefield.

Everyone is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served in the church hall.
