It was a disappointing night for local drivers at King’s Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena last Saturday.
Simon Venni had the best night of local drivers with a fourth place in the white and yellows race and he then recorded a ninth place in one of the main heats before retiring from the meeting with the recurrence of a bad back.
Simon would have hoped for a better night following his recent downgrading to yellow together with his dominating performance at Northampton a week earlier.
It was also a bad night for Wes Starmer who retired from the meeting early after hitting the fence square on and hurting his neck.
There was a high spot for local Saloon fans with the return to the tracks of Will Makins for the first time in eleven months following a leg injury.
Will was in action in a very smart car and it did not take him long to get back into the groove with a good fifth place finish in the white and yellow race before putting in some more good drives but he unfortunately did not have any other good results to show for his efforts.
Ely’s Carl Waterfield won the meeting final.
National Points leader Dan Booth had a poor night in the 1300 Stock Cars were he failed to make the top ten all night.
He sustained damage in the first race after collecting the stranded Barty Ketteringham car hard and in the following races he struggled to make much of an impact from the back of the grid In the remaining races and he failed to place in the top ten – Pasinghall’s Will Morphey won the meeting final.
Hopes were high before the meeting that Black’s All Stars – a team put together by local star Matt Black would be successful in the 1500cc Banger East Anglian Teams event but they had to be content with a sixth place finish in the team competition.
Stock Car and Banger Racing returns to King’s Lynn on Saturday July 30 when the Unlimited Banger War of the Worlds takes centre stage. Racing also comes from the 2L Stock Cars and the Reliant Robins.
