Vase hammerings for Tigers and Knights

The FA Vase proved to be an unhappy hunting ground for local sides as both Holbeach United and Pinchbeck were thrashed on Saturday.

Holbeach United were hit for six at Sandiacre Town as the Derbyshire side celebrated their first ever win in the competition.

The Tigers were 2-0 down after 14 minutes and didn’t recover.

That remained the score until the 63rd minute but Sandiacre ran riot in the second period scoring four more.

Holbeach were due to host Whittlesey Athletic in the Thurlow Nunn Division One North on Wednesday night as The Voice went to press.

* Pinchbeck United were hammered 5-0 by Clifton All Whites.

The home side were ahead after just two minutes and doubled that advantage nine minutes later.

A Ben Martin penalty save was as good as it got for Pinchbeck as the Nottinghamshire side added three other goals in the second period.
