A Spalding couple say their 30th wedding anniversary celebrations were ruined after they were urinated on walking home from a night out in town.
Neil and Dianne Bingham were walking on Stepping Stone Bridge over the railway between King’s Road and Park Road’ where they live at around 12.30am on Sunday, April 15 when the incident occurred.
The couple say someone with a group of youths urinated on them while they were walking home after a night celebrating their anniversary in The Punchbowl.
Neil (57) said: “We were going to take a taxi but decided to get food and walk home with it.
“There’s usually people on the bridge and there’s usually no trouble.
“This time it was a group of what appeared to be 14 to 16 year olds.
“I heard one of them say they needed a wee but I didn’t take any notice of it.
“I saw them and said ‘don’t do it mate’. We were walking down the steps the urine hit my wife. There was nothing we could do. My wife got most of it and I got it down my arm, while our food was also ruined.
“They just became all abusive, on about rape and that. I was absolutely enraged.
“We saw one police van but no police officers on that night out.”
Inspector Gareth Boxall of Spalding Police, said: “We received a report of this incident and were able to send officers immediately to the scene.
“Unsurprisingly the group of youths had already dispersed when we arrived.
“We have liaised with our colleagues in the British Transport Police and have recorded a crime of assault.
“This was a disgusting act and I encourage anyone with any details about the incident to contact us quoting Inc 24 15/04/2018 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.”
