Unsung heroes to be recognised at special awards presentation event

Bakkavor, Spalding and the Sir John Gleed School are among nominees up for prizes at an awards event for unsung heroes.

The event to be held tomorrow, has been organised by Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (LCVS) to acknowledge the vast amount and array of work done by the charities, organisations and individuals it works to support.

David Fannin, LCVS chief executive, said: “Day-in, day-out at LCVS we come into contact with remarkable, dedicated people who give their time for the good of others, with no desire for recognition or reward for themselves.

“It may be a cliche to say that we wish we could give an award to all of them, but in this case it really is true. We asked our staff to put forward nominations and every one of those nominations was worthy of being a winner.”

Nominations for the awards have come from LCVS teams in the four boroughs and districts where they are based – Boston, South Holland, South Kesteven and East Lindsey.

Nominees and guests have been invited to attend the presentation at Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre, Boston.

Awards will be given in nine categories including small charity, big achiever; trustee of the year and bringing communities together.

In addition there will be acknowledgement of more than 100 people who have completed free training with LCVS in the past year.
