Unbeatable Pinchbeck United complete title-winning campaign with exciting draw

Relentless ChromaSport UCL Division One champions Pinchbeck United completed their season with a 28-game unbeaten streak intact after rescuing a 3-3 draw against Harrowby United on Tuesday night.

An 87th-minute free-kick from Andrew Tidswell clinched the draw for Pinchbeck, who had fallen 3-1 down against the Arrows at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Jurelle Philip gave Harrowby the lead in the first half, only for Chris Shipley to haul the Knights level in the 45th minute.

However, Harrowby refused to lie down for the promoted hosts and went back ahead through Sam Grouse. Not done there, Grouse added his second from the spot to put Pinchbeck on the brink of the rarest of defeats.

But Ian Dunn’s side don’t know when they’re beaten and they pulled one back when top scorer Ollie Maltby notched his 36th of the season from the penalty spot.

Amazingly, Tidswell’s trademark free-kick then secured a point at the death to ensure Pinchbeck finish the season on 90 points – with their last defeat coming way back in October.

After the final whistle, the Knights once again got their hands on the UCL Division One trophy.

Pinchbeck: Swan, Gordon, Wright, Tidswell, Jack Smith, A Murrell, Shipley, Bishop, Maltby, Eyett, Ogden. Subs: Sergeant, Clarke, Gardner, B Murrell, Lovelace.
