Plans to expand a Holbeach car wash to include a tyre centre have been submitted to South Holland District Council.
There is already a working car wash on the site along with plans for a fast food restaurant.
Now the council will decide if a tyre fitters can be added to the existing car wash already on the former Jewson’s site on Boston Road.
“The proposal intends to also provide much needed economic boost to the existing area by providing a new business and service provider within the locality, thereby attracting customers from the local community and businesses,” says a design and access statement accompanying the planning application from.
“The site benefits with car parking for customers immediately to the side and on site, plus the site has additional space for new cycle storage, motorbike/scooter parking and staff parking within the rear car park, says the document.
The new proposal will retain both the existing car wash and a restaurant/takeaway granted permission earlier.
Despite objections, plans were passed earlier this year to allow for the development of the restuarant/takeaway on the site.
There were a total of nine objections, including from Holbeach Parish Council when the application was decided under delegated powers in August.
It said the move would represent ‘a town centre function being introduced outside the designated town centre boundary.
Documents submitted with that said a hot food outlet would also offer employment opportunities.
“The proposal will only utilise a section of the area used by the existing car wash. The tyre fitting equpiment/compressors will be located within the existing structure and thereby limiting possible noise disturbance,” said the design and access statement.
The existing rear yard will be used for refuse storage and collection, accessed via Boston Road.
