Tydd St Giles Golf Club’s senior section have made a very generous presentation of £3,610 to the East Anglia Air Ambulance.
Area fundraising manager Chris Donaldson, from the charity, thanked all of the Tydd members for their generosity and presented seniors’ captain Trevor Sewell with a ‘friends of The Air Ambulance’ photo.
That all took place after the seniors enjoyed a special Christmas golf event – with an amazing 80 players taking part.
Seniors’ section results: Stableford Trophy competition: Division One – 1st Gerry Sherriff 44pts; 2nd Tim Martin 39pts; 3rd Ken Doughty 38pts.
Division Two – 1st Carl Brodie 40pts; 2nd Richard Martin 39pts (ocb); 3rd Roger Oughton 39pts.
Division Three – 1st David Longstaff 34pts; 2nd Malcolm Miller 33pts; 3rd Dave Morris 33pts.
Men’s section: December Stableford Pairs – 1st Ian Edrupt & Keith Jakings 51pts; 2nd Paul Jackson & Dave Worrall 48pts (ocb); 3rd Tim Murphy & Garry Fitzjohn 48pts.
December Medal: Division One – 1st Gary Fitzjohn 75-11=64; 2nd Rod Drew 77-9=68; 3rd Jamie Stott 80-11=69.
Division Two – 1st Tim Murphy 83-16=67 (ocb); 2nd Darrell Pacey 82-15=67; 3rd Gary Withers 83-15=68.
Division Three – 1st Steve Boor 89-22=67; 2nd Will Woodrow 86-17=69 (ocb); 3rd Simon Smith 91-22=69.
- Jackie Maton saw off 14 other ladies to win the 10th Anniversary Trophy at Tydd St Giles Golf Club.
Her score of 17 points was enough to clinch glory in the nine-hole competition.
After the event, outgoing captain Lyn Walker revealed that the ladies’ section had raised £1,136 for Teenage Cancer Trust at Addenbrookes Hospital.
The Tydd AGM and presentation of trophies won throughout the year concluded 2016 for the club’s ladies.
