Tydd ladies are up to the Task(er)

Tydd St Giles Ladies got their Taskers competition campaign under way with a challenging first-round match at Glen Gorse in Leicester.

Despite a determined effort, Tydd fell to a 5-2 defeat, leaving work to do in the return leg.

Back on home turf, Tydd delivered an outstanding performance to turn the tie around in style with excellent golf across the board securing a convincing 6-1 victory to progress to the next round.

Seniors’ Stableford, Div 1: 1 Peter Williams 40pts, 2 Gary Edwards 38, 3 Mark Amor 37 (ocb).
Div 2: 1 Martin Wells 37pts, 2 Ken Doughty 35 (ocb), 3 Jonathan Schultz 35 (ocb).
Div 3: 1 Michael Corbett 34pts, 2 Alec Harding 32, 3 Bill Boyce 31 (ocb).

* A great turnout of 38 ladies competed in Spalding Golf Club’s Baytree Medal in tough windy conditions.

Division Three winner and overall winner, with net 75 on countback, was Carole Holland.

Division 2 winner Jane Woolard also scored net 75, with Division One winner Alison Willson on net 76.

Nigel and Chuck Wallis, from sponsor Baytree Garden Centre, presented the winners with a planter arrangement.
Captain Jackie Bailey-Scott thanked Baytree for their continued support of Spalding’s Ladies’ Section.

* Andy Parks, Wally Lawes and Rick Morley were victorious at the Sutton Bridge Golf Club Bank Holiday Texas Scramble.

Their winning score was a net 57.6.

Second place of the 14 teams went to J Shippey, P Shippey and T Ward. The trio recorded a score of 57.7.
