Two site managers at a Spalding housing development have been recognised as the best in their field after winning a top industry award.

Andrew Smith and Greg Wimsey, site managers at Kier Homes’ Kingfisher Court development, have been announced as Quality Award Winners in the first round of the NHBC (National House-Building Council) Pride in the Job Awards.

Renowned as the Oscars of the house-building industry, the Pride in the Job Awards recognise and reward the UK’s best site managers and provide homebuyers with extra peace of mind about the quality of their new home.

Competition is tough, with only the top three per cent of the 15,000 site managers competing winning an award.

The year-long judging process sees each site manager put through their paces and assessed across 38 areas of site management defined by the NHBC.

Andrew, who has worked for Kier Homes for seven years, also won the award last year for his workmanship, technical expertise and leadership at Kingfisher Court, which comprises two, three and four-bedroom homes.

Andrew said: “Both Greg and I are thrilled that we’ve been able to build on last year’s success and win this award again. It’s a great personal and team achievement and we are looking forward to competing in the next rounds of the competition.”

Greg and Andrew were two of seven site managers from Kier Homes to win the award.

Nick Moore, managing director of Kier Homes, said: “This is an amazing endorsement for the quality of our homes. All our teams consistently demonstrate incredible professionalism and to see the dedication of seven of our site managers recognised by the NHBC is tremendous.

“These awards provide further assurance for everyone buying a Kier home of the amazing workmanship and pride in the job that all our employees demonstrate.”

Mike Quinton, NHBC chief executive, said: “For nearly 35 years, Pride in the Job has been a fundamental component of NHBC’s work to raise standards through the celebration and sharing of best practice.”

The winners will now compete in the next round of the competition to win Seals of Excellence and/or Regional Award titles.
